GLOUCESTER 2050 (28 June 2018)
The Honourable Company of Gloucestershire and friends are holding an open meeting at the University of Gloucestershire Park Campus, Cheltenham, on Thursday 28th June at 6 for 6.30. To finish by 8.30pm. I hope that you can join us in the main lecture theatre, you do not need to book.
The format of the meeting, which will be held at the University of Gloucestershire's Park Campus in Cheltenham, will include a presentation from Peter Bungard, CEO of Gloucestershire County Council, specifically exploring the role and needs of 'anchor' or 'magnet' institutions in the County. This will be followed by a panel discussion with members from some major organisations, prompted by comments and questions from the audience.
Gloucestershire 2050 is a 'Big Conversation' about what the future holds, and should hold, for the County. Launched in February 2018, it seeks to gather views on a range of issues from as many people and groups as possible and feed these into a strategy which will deliver a thriving County that is a great place in which to live and work. An initial working group had identified some of the challenges, such as the demographic shape of the County given current trends, and the importance of major organisations and institutions which provide anchors within the County or act as magnets to people and business. It also identified potential major projects that might catalyse development. Details of these and other aspects of the 2050 project can be found at https://glos2050.com/ . The University of Gloucestershire has been charged with taking the discussion forward over the next few months.
