WILLANS SOLICITORS’ QUIZ RAISES CASH FOR COUNTY’S HOSPICE

Cheltenham law firm Willans LLP has raised over £3,000 to help provide care and comfort to people with cancer and other potentially life-limiting conditions.
200 local business professionals attended the charity quiz night at Hatherley Manor Hotel on the evening of 27 February. 46 teams from businesses such as Albright Patents, Barclays, Barnett Waddingham, Brewin Dolphin, Cambray Property Management, Commercial Group, Crowe Clark Whitehill, Errington-Smith, Hazlewoods and Randall & Payne took part in the fundraiser.
Some of the money was raised by a charity auction and raffle. Many prizes were kindly donated by local businesses, to include Cotswold Hills Golf Club, At-Bristol, Brickhampton Golf Club, Three Choirs Vineyard and All Your Life.
Money raised from the evening will help fund new equipment and the cost of care provided by Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
The winners of the quiz were Cambray Property Management. Griffiths Marshall were a close second, M P Filtri UK Ltd third, Lloyds Bank plc fourth and Clydesdale Bank plc fifth.
Elise Hoadley, palliative care services manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said:
"Providing a specialist service that gives palliative and end-of-life care to adults suffering a life-limiting illness comes at a cost. We are led by a medical consultant and offer inpatient beds and a day hospice service. We also care for people in their own homes, through our hospice-at-home team. As patients receive all of their care free of charge, it is vital that money is raised through charitable donations.
“Thank you to Willans solicitors for organising the quiz and to local businesses for supporting it. I can assure you that all money raised will be put towards the high standard of care we provide to the people of Gloucestershire."
Paul Symes-Thompson, partner and head of the charity committee at Willans LLP, said:

“While last year’s quiz was a success, we are thrilled to have had a 100% increase in entries this year, enabling us to raise twice the amount of cash and provide businesses with an even greater networking opportunity.
“It was a fantastic evening, attended by many local professionals and raised a good amount for the valuable work of the hospice.”
