SUCCESSFUL LOCAL BUSINESSES SHARE THEIR SECRETS AT CONNECT BUSINESS 2016
If you’ve ever wondered how well-known local businesses developed from a bright idea to where they are today, or how they expanded into new markets, Connect Business 2016 will provide some of the answers.
At this year’s event several very different businesses, from Cheltenham Racecourse to homewares designer Catherine Colebrook and the award-winning Simpsons Fish and Chips, will talk about how their business has grown and their plans for the future. There will also be advice on what journalists are looking for from Nicky Godding, business editor of Cotswold Life and co-founder of Rock the Cotswolds, while Alex Chalk MP will provide an update from a post-Brexit Westminster.
Connect Business is now a landmark in the Cheltenham business calendar and attracts several hundred business people every year from a mix of established businesses and recent start-ups. The free event is organised by community group Cheltenham Connect and aims to encourage networking and local sourcing in Gloucestershire.
In addition to the speaker programme there will be 22 exhibition stands from local companies offering a wide variety of services, from business planning, skills development and recruitment to marketing, PR and design. There is also a networking lunch, which costs £8 and must be booked in advance.
“Who hasn’t wondered how Simpsons wins so many awards, or how Cheltenham racecourse has grown both its racing attendance and its events business,” said event co-organiser Belinda Wilson of GlosJobs. “We can all learn from their success and pick up practical tips which we can put into practice in our own business.
“Connect Business is free to attend because it’s about connecting people in the area and supporting the local business community – not about making money. We think this is the best speaker programme yet and encourage people from businesses of all sizes to come along.”
Connect Business takes place at The Pavilion, Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL51 6PN, on Thursday 22nd September 2016 from 10am to 3pm. Visitors can stay all day or just drop in for an hour, with networking throughout the day and over an informal lunch.
