Can you help place a life-saving defibrillator?

Public Hearts Cheltenham Defibrillator Campaign’s goal is to raise awareness and numbers of lifesaving defibrillators in Cheltenham town centre. Michael Ratcliffe is supporting this campaign and The Chamber understands the benefits of defibrillators which can increase the chances in the event of a cardiac arrest by up to 80%.

The campaign is currently looking to facilitate placing a series of public access defibrillators along Cheltenham High Street (ideally every 200 metres) to benefit the local and visiting community (which can add up to some 250,000 during Race Week)

Clare Seed, Director of Tidal Training Direct and Chris Hickey , HR People Support, set up Public Hearts in 2019, hosting a launch event at The Isbourne where The Mayor, Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce and members of the business community attended.

At that time, there were no public access defibrillators in Cheltenham Town Centre (only the two in Montpellier)

Public Hearts works with South West Ambulance Service, Gloucestershire Police Licensing Division and Cheltenham BID – who generously funded the defibrillator housed in one of the phone boxes outside RBS.

A defib has been placed in Moon Under Water at the bottom of Bath Rd, the campaign has co-funded one for the United Services Club and part funded one for Holy Trinity School to support a child with a congenital heart condition.

In early August 2021, Bob Holt OBE and Mike Turl each generously donated a defibrillator with a view to having them placed in the community to support this essential campaign.

If you are a town centre business in a high foot traffic location and would like to house a Public Access Defibrillator on the outside of your building, we are about to receive defibrillators generously donated by Spirax Sarco looking for a home! Please get in touch on 01242 371 999 to find out more.

The support and networking opportunities that the Chamber offered to me as director of a new business really appealed. The board and members I spoke to seemed really interested in my business.
