Tackling Business Risks. A workshop with Westway IT
21st June 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Westway IT will host an in-person workshop to help companies develop more effective strategies for mitigating risks and improving their disaster recovery plans.
(21st June, Gloucester Growth Hub, University of Gloucestershire, Oxstalls Campus)
Westway IT’s John Fisher will lead an in-person workshop to help local businesses proactively reduce risks associated with disasters, work interruptions, and rogue employees.
The workshop will take business owners through a “fly-on-the-wall” scenario, from disaster to what they could have done better. The aim is for entrepreneurs to realise the often unseen risks in their IT infrastructure and to set them up with proactive planning and recovery.
87% of UK businesses are unprepared for cyber attacks, and it takes an average of 38 days to identify a breach and a further 43 days to recover. During that time, most will experience downtime and loss of earnings. Yet, there are other risks companies face. 68% of data workers continue to store work-related information on personal devices, 89% of employees admit to continuing to have access to at least one application from their former employer whilst working for someone else, and 6% of former employees surveyed admitted to sharing business data with a third party. There are unseen doors companies need to start closing.
“With more businesses trading online and operating hybrid teams, how we handle our approach to technology has become more important than ever. To reduce our business risk level and maintain a happy and healthy business, business owners must consider where risks come from, where their IT vulnerabilities are and how to mitigate risk. That is why this in-person workshop is crucial. I want to provide simple but actionable support to build long-term resilience.” – John Fisher, Westway IT.
