Local medical charity Cobalt is launching a photography competition to raise funds to support teenagers and young adults with cancer by providing a specialist nurse. Have you got what it takes? The competition opens on April 1st and the closing date is 31st July 2022. Local professional photographer Sally Ryde is, once again, part of the judging panel who will oversee the entries. Thirteen winning images will be published in the Cobalt 2023 calendar, and framed prints will be exhibited and then awarded to each winner. There are some amazing prizes including membership of the Royal Photographic Society, subscriptions to Digital Photographer magazine and Outdoor Photography magazine, a London Camera Exchange voucher, photography workshop places and tickets to The Photography Show and The Video Show at the NEC. All generously donated by our sponsors.
Donations to enter the competition will be just £2. The competition is open with no themes, simply enter your best photo. All ages and abilities can enter and photos can be taken with smartphones or DSLR cameras. No experience is necessary and the competition will be open to both amateur and professionals to share what they see behind their lens.
Kirsty Bradbury, Fundraising Engagement Officer for Cobalt said: “We’re extremely excited about the photography competition. It is open to everyone and you can enter as many images as you like. Smart phone entries are welcome too for a chance to win some of our amazing prizes. The money raised will be used to fund Cobalt’s Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Nurses who supports some of the most vulnerable in our society; 16 – 25 year olds who have been given a life threatening diagnosis. Cobalt needs to raise £28,000 each year to ensure that the vital support they receive will continue.”
