Local employees are encouraged to get their workplace involved in air ambulance charity’s Mission Maker Challenge.
Three in four British businesses don’t give to charity, according to research from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)*. Many employees want to make a difference but aren’t sure how to get their workplace involved. Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is calling on local businesses – and the people who work in them – to step up and help save lives through its new Mission Maker Challenge.
Each call-out by the charity’s Critical Care Team costs around £2,200 and by pledging to raise this amount during 2026, workplaces can directly fund a mission that could make the difference between life and death for someone in the community.
Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, the first ten businesses that pledge by 1 December 2025 will have their fundraising doubled, funding not one but two missions.
Anyone can take action at work to save lives
You don’t need to be the boss to make a difference. GWAAC encourages employees to suggest the Mission Maker Challenge to their manager, HR team, or Corporate Social Responsibility lead. From bake sales to office fitness challenges, any workplace can rally together to become a Mission Maker.
Joe Hughes, GWAAC Strategic Partnerships Manager, said: “Every time our helicopter takes off, it could mean the difference between life and death for someone local. Mission Maker gives local workplaces a real opportunity to make a tangible difference in their community. Every effort, big or small, helps fund lifesaving missions and shows employees the impact they can have together. And with match funding for the first ten pledges, every pound raised can go twice as far.”
Kim Galpin, Marketing and Communications Manager at EG Carter, who will host their 2026 quiz to support the cause, said:
“Our partnership with the amazing team at GWAAC is something we’re all really proud of at EG Carter. Being part of Mission Makers is a fantastic opportunity to drive even more positive change in our local area, while enjoying some friendly competition in support of a charity that any one of us might need one day.”
What you need to know
A small act from you, by suggesting the Mission Maker Challenge to your workplace, could have a big impact on someone having their worst day in your local community. Someone like Rhiannon who suffered a cardiac arrest while working at home.
Rhiannon says, “There’s not going to be a better cause. The air ambulance and everything around it is so important and something people aren’t aware of unless GWAAC has touched their lives.”
- Fundraising target: £2,200 per business – the cost of one mission
