Chamber Helps Over 50 Work Experience Challenge Reach Key Milestone

The 50:50 Challenge was set up by Gloucestershire Employment and Skills Hub to help address the Government’s concern over the high number of people aged over 50 who are not engaged in employment. Yet they can contribute hugely to solving skills shortages in all kinds of areas.

The aim was to arrange 50 hours of work experience with 50 employers for people aged 50 and over across Gloucestershire.

We are delighted that 50 employers have now pledged their support.

Ian Mean of Business West commented, “This is a great start for a simple idea to boost the confidence of the over 50s wanting to return to work and the willingness of employers to see the recruitment opportunities it presents.”

The Chamber have been happy to contribute by offering a meeting room for project executives to conduct interviews with potential employers and employees, every Thursday.
