Did You Know? Making the Most of LinkedIn with Wagada Digital

Many experts agree that LinkedIn is not only good for networking and career building, it’s also great for improving brand awareness, boosting leads and conversions, and increasing revenue.

We asked Prudence Bond at agency, Wagada Digital to give us her top tips for using LinkedIn for businesses – improving your profile, growing your network and posting – and we are very grateful for these. It may take a bit of work, but the results can be very rewarding for your business.

1. Start with a strong profile photo. Your profile photo is the first thing people notice – so make it count. Use a high-quality, up-to-date image (no blurry screenshots or images from WhatsApp). Once you’ve got a crisp image, think about how it reflects your personal or company brand. Colour photos help you stand out solid brand-colour backgrounds can boost team recognition. Ensure consistency across team profiles also helps to builds brand awareness.

2. Add a bold banner – Your banner is prime real estate. Use it to visually tell people who you are and what you do. Whether it’s your company’s tagline, your personal mission, or a strong visual, make it memorable.

3. Optimise your headline – Your job title is just the start. You have 220 characters to play with in headline so use it to show how you help people or what sets you apart. Add keywords in headline and about section so you’re more likely appear in search results.

4. Tell your story in the summary – Don’t just list your roles – tell people who you are. Here is your chance to speak to the audience and educate them about how you can help them. Write a short, compelling story about your experience, values, and what motivates you. Keep it conversational, focus on your impact, and avoid jargon. Done well, this is a section you can leave alone for months. So take the time to get it right.

5. Use the Featured section – This is your chance to show what you’re about – not just tell. Add links to standout posts, website pages, interviews, or case studies. Choose content that demonstrates your value and the kind of work you’re proud of.

6. Grow your network (intentionally) – Be proactive with connection requests – to add a not to them or not? We’ll save that debate for another time. But a quick win? Sync your email address book to let LinkedIn suggest connections. More importantly, don’t just grow your network – engage with it.

Quick tip – you can check out your Social Selling Index (SSI) score which measures how well a user utilises LinkedIn for social selling activities. We recommend you take a look and see what you’re doing well and what might need improving on. You can check your SSI score here – LinkedIn.com/sales/ssi

7. Boost credibility with endorsements and recommendations – Endorse others for skills you genuinely admire – it often prompts a return favour. Want to go further? Ask for recommendations from people who’ve seen your work first-hand.

8. Share your team’s marketing content – Don’t let great collateral go to waste. Share relevant case studies, white papers or thought leadership pieces to give people a clearer view of the work you’re part of. It builds trust – and shows you’re proud of what you do. Original content performs best but reshares are still worthwhile. Also ensure you are commenting and engaging on company collateral as this can help boost a post more than if you were to reshare.

9. Be an active part of the community – Make sure to reply to every comment on your post as engagement increases reach. Commenting, liking and sharing content is one of the easiest ways to increase your visibility. Join conversations with your peers and target audiences. It’s quick, simple and shows you’re present – not passive.

10. Contribute to LinkedIn collaborative articles – If you’re invited to contribute to LinkedIn’s collaborative articles – say yes! They boost your visibility and position you as someone who has something valuable to say. You can view LinkedIn article here –https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/topics/home

Bonus tips:

  • Post content on LinkedIn to stay visible, relevant and top of mind.
  • Don’t post too often: Leave at least 18 hours between posts to avoid splitting your engagement.
  • Be consistent: Aim to post 2–5 times a week.
  • Mix it up: Use a blend of content – PDFs, videos, polls, and written posts – to engage different types of people.
  • ·Stay human: Use a clear tone, positive language and break up longer posts with space or emojis, if relevant
