The Gloucestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), led by Business West since 2021, helps ensure local education and training meet the needs of businesses. By working with employers and educators, the team identifies key skill gaps and shapes local courses to better prepare the future workforce. Key focus areas include digital industries, construction, engineering, agriculture, and sustainability.
Coming in to this year they have been running a number of workshops that have reflected on all they’ve achieved and what their focus is for 2025. Stage Two of its initiative, focusing on translating employer-identified skill needs into actionable changes within education and training programs, is going to be spoken about at their event on February 26th at MX in Cheltenham.

They’ve also created a toolkit, downloadable below, to help businesses identify their skill needs and connect with local training providers. It aims to make it easier to shape local training programs, ensuring local businesses have the right skills to support business growth.
