Where To Go For Support In Going Green? Who Does What.

Chamber News

Even when economic imperatives are uppermost, we believe it’s important that everyone “does their bit” towards preventing climate catastrophe. Whether it’s becoming a BCorp, adding value to your brand or simply cutting costs, it all adds to a huge collective effort to make a difference.

We thought it useful to provide a simple guide to the mostly free support for businesses available locally. There is a lot of it, so hopefully this can point you in the right direction.

The diagram above attempts to explain the roles of the key local bodies.

  • Gloucestershire County Council set the overall economic strategy for the area and have embedded carbon reduction as a key objective. They have set key commitments to reducing the carbon footprint of all their own operations.
  • Cheltenham Borough Council are responsible for reducing the footprint of their operations within the above strategy.
  • Cheltenham Zero was set up by the Borough Council as a network of businesses and local organisations who commit to Zero carbon by 2030. (Your Chamber is a member). They provide online resources and information sharing to help businesses towards this goal. Find out more>>
  • The Growth Hub run seminars and workshops and offer some one-to-one expert advice on carbon reduction for business. Access their help here >>
