Cheltenham Borough Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Mole (above) as their new Head of Place Marketing and Inward Investment.
The role will see Helen taking the reins of Marketing Cheltenham, the official Destination Marketing Organisation for Cheltenham. Helen succeeds David Jackson, who recently announced he would be moving on after three years in the role to take up a Regional Director position at Visit Scotland.
Mrs Mole will be responsible for leading the delivery of the town’s visitor economy and place marketing activity whilst also helping to attract inward investment into the town and raising the profile of Cheltenham as the UK’s cyber tech capital.
With a background in both the commercial and public sector, Helen brings with her a wealth of experience from organisations such as the Hereford and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, and Harrison Clark Rickerbys. For the past six years, Helen has held the role of Tourism and City Centre Manager for Worcester City Council, playing an integral part of the team responsible for securing c.£40m of public funding for regeneration projects in Worcester.
Tracey Birkinshaw, Director of Planning said, “David has been a real asset to the Council and our partners and leaves a positive legacy of promoting Cheltenham. Helen joins us with experience across destination management, inward investment and events and we look forward to building on these skills to drive investment and visitors to Cheltenham.
Our stakeholders, partners and the wider businesses of Cheltenham are key ambassadors of the town and we look forward, with the support of Helen and the wider Marketing Cheltenham team, to harness the potential of our town.”
Helen Mole said, “I’m delighted to be joining Cheltenham at such an exciting time. It’s a fantastic town with a brilliant programme of festivals and a strong retail and restaurant offer and I am looking forward to working with businesses, staff and stakeholders to deliver some exciting and ambitious plans.
I am really proud of everything I achieved in my time at Worcester and I look forward to building on this experience in Cheltenham to help promote the town and ensure its continued success into the future.”
Helen will take up the new role in July.
