HCR Law advises on sale of Cheltenham wine developer to global wine group

HCR Law’s South West Corporate team has advised on the sale of Off-Piste Wines, a Cheltenham-based wine developer and distributor, to a global wine group.
The business has been sold to Terold Invest SL, with HCR Law acting for the sellers on the transaction.
Founded in 2007, Off‑Piste Wines has built a strong portfolio of wine brands, including Most Wanted and The Wanderer. The acquisition will enable the business to expand further, benefiting from Terold’s global scale and sourcing capabilities.
The transaction delivered a successful exit for growth capital investor BGF, achieving a strong return on its original investment made in December 2019. During BGF’s six‑year investment, Off‑Piste Wines increased revenues from £37m to £65m by expanding its footprint with major UK grocery retailers, strengthening its brand portfolio and growing its convenience and on‑trade channels.
Rachael Reeves, Partner and Head of HCR Law’s South West Corporate team, said: “This was a significant milestone for Off-Piste Wines and a testament to the strength of the business built by the management team. It was a pleasure to support them through a complex international transaction and to help deliver a successful outcome for all involved.”
Andy Talbot, Managing Director of Off-Piste Wines, added: “This was our second major corporate transaction and, this time, an overseas sale. I didn’t have to think twice about who I wanted by my side. HCR is a fabulous team of professionals and no matter what came up, they always had a calm approach and were excellent partners to take us through it.”
