Universities and Colleges Gear Up for Cheltenham’s Tech Future

The success of the town’s rapidly growing cyber and tech sectors will depend on having people with the right skills available.

Our local Universities and Colleges are ramping up their offers to meet growing employer needs in these sectors. They are all Members with whom we have good contacts, should you wish further to explore what they can offer businesses.

The University of Gloucestershire is rapidly expanding its cyber facilities and connections. Funded by a £5.8million grant from the Office for Students (OfS), new cyber and computing facilities and equipment at Park Campus, Cheltenham are being developed with help from with CyNam, Hub8 and Plexal. They offer apprenticeships up to degree level and have now joined forces with employers from across the county’s cyber security sector in an exciting scheme offering new apprenticeship opportunities – the Gloucestershire Cyber Launchpad (GCL). More details >>

 

Gloucestershire College have been crowned digital provider of the year in the AAC National Apprenticeship Awards for their outstanding work supporting the evolving IT and cyber ecosystem in Gloucestershire and the South West.

They are also the first Further Education College to have provisional certification by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for their cyber security degree apprenticeship.

Hartpury University and Hartpury College has 4,600 students from more than 60 countries studying PhDs, postgraduate and undergraduate degrees, and diplomas in subjects including agriculture, animal, equine, sport, veterinary nursing, business and biological sciences, as well as A-levels and has recently been rated “outstanding” by Ofsted.

Their Tech Box Park is a rural hub for tech and creative businesses buzzing with passion, energy and ideas. It offers private offices, workspaces and meeting rooms with flexible membership plans.

Thanks to a new partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs, a number of SME’s have been able to take up membership with the aim of helping them connect, grow and scale into the agricultural industry.
