Full steam ahead with a new website

As new members, we wanted to share a recent digital delivery for a fellow Chamber member – a pair of new websites for The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) and The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Trust (GWRT).

The organisations’ websites play a hugely important role, from engaging with potential donors and volunteers through to generating income via ticket sales and event promotion. Their digital presence had been suffering, due to the outdated design, cumbersome user experience and poor mobile delivery of their website.

It was essential to ensure GWSR and GWRT’s websites match the expectations of their digital-savvy customers, whilst helping to elevate their offering within the increasingly competitive leisure and experiential marketplace.

We set about revitalising how GWSR and GWRT interacted with their audience online. A full content audit led to creating an intuitive site structure delivered within a heritage inspired design, complemented by ease of navigation and a simplified timetable delivery.

The new websites are part of a revitalisation of the brands’ marketing and communication activities, focused at strengthening customer engagement and appeal across a wide range of demographics.

“It is a total delight to work with The Lines Group,” says Catherine Johnson, Marketing Manager at Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway PLC. “From the off, they just ‘got us’ and what was needed from a user experience for our website.”

The websites are delivered using latest cloud served technologies, with dynamic design and structure, to provide a seamless experience across desktop and mobile devices.
