Chamber Chief Executive Michael Ratcliffe Awarded MBE

The Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate its Chief Executive, Michael Ratcliffe, for being awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June for services to business and the community in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Speaking on behalf of the Chamber and the business community, Deputy CEO Jon Leamon said, “Michael has worked tirelessly for many years for the benefit of Cheltenham. His service to the business community and the charities he founded has been remarkable. He has always put the welfare of the town and its citizens first and foremost in everything he does. We owe him a great debt of gratitude and wish him many congratulations on a well-deserved honour’.

Kevan Blackadder, Director of the Business Improvement District (BID) in Cheltenham, tweeted, “Many congratulations to @CheltChamber Chief Executive Michael Ratcliffe on his MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. He does so much work for #OurChelt. Hugely deserved.”

Mr. Ratcliffe is the Chief Executive of insurance broker MR Ratcliffe Consultants, which he founded in 1976. Besides his Chamber activities, he’s founder and director of several charities including CCP, IT Schools Africa, The Makhad Trust and the Isbourne Centre, all of which play a vital role in the communities they serve both domestically and internationally. He continues to play an active role in all these organisations and is often referred to by many as ‘Mr. Cheltenham’.

Congratulations to Michael and his family on this special award and many heartfelt thanks from the many who have benefitted from his dedication and service over the past 40 years.
